Men's Golf Advances to State Championship Round

Men's Golf Advances to State Championship Round

By Wes McCurtis

OCEANSIDE, CA – The Cypress College men's golf team finished 2nd behind Riverside City College at the 2017 Southern California Regional held at El Camino Country Club (Par 72) on Tuesday.

The Chargers finished 8 strokes behind the Tigers to qualify for the 2017 CCCAA State Championship Tournament at Cypress Ridge Country Club in Arroyo Grande, CA (May 15-16).

"We played really well the first round to put us in a pretty good spot. We were tied with Riverside up 9 strokes after the first 18 holes and three of my top four golfers had a rough second round, which caused us to lose some ground. Dylan Hall played a real strong second round (-2) to offset the higher scores from some of our more consistent golfers," said Head Coach Dana Bedard. "Our goal this year was to get to the State Championships and now our goal is to go win this thing."

Sophomore standout Dylan Hall was selected as 1st Team All-Southern California Region after his performance on Tuesday.

Below are the teams representing each region in this year's State Championship Tournament:

Riverside, 750

Cypress, 758

Canyons, 765

Ventura, 774
