Men's Golf Qualifies for SoCal Regional

CHINO HILLS, CA – The Cypress College men's golf team qualified for the Southern California Regional after their performance in the OEC Championships at Los Serranos Country Club on Monday.

With blustering winds of over 25 mph the Chargers finished 3rd overall (804), giving them sole possession of 3rd place in the Orange Empire Conference and a spot in the SoCal Regional for the first time since 2012. Frank Simpson (81-78) and Sean Chou (80-80) led Cypress to a 4th place finish in the morning round on the south course (405) and a 2nd place finish in the afternoon round on the north course (399).

Cypress All-Conference selections Dylan Hall and Claudio Phillips had their struggles on Monday. Hall shot a team high +11 in the morning round followed by a team low +4 in the afternoon round. Phillips (82-84) shot a team high of 166 for the day.

SoCal Regionals are scheduled for May 9-10 at Bear Creek Golf Club in Murrieta, CA. Draws and tee-times have yet to be announced.
