Cypress Chargers Men’s Basketball Falls to Cerritos at the Buzzer
Chargers’ valiant effort falls short as Cerritos clinches victory with last-second shot
CYPRESS, CA – The Cypress Chargers Men's Basketball team came up just short in a heart-pounding game against Cerritos College, falling 57-55 after a last-second basket by the visiting Falcons.
The Chargers battled fiercely, with Danny Patton leading the team with a near double-double, scoring 15 points and grabbing 9 rebounds. Michael Wright added 12 points and 4 rebounds, going an efficient 7-for-8 from the free-throw line. Off the bench, Jack Rivera delivered a strong performance, tallying 11 points on 5-for-9 shooting.
Defensively, Cypress kept the game close, with contributions from Higgy Katoa, who added 8 points and 3 rebounds, and James Christian III, who chipped in 7 points while also tying for the team lead with 3 assists.
The game was a back-and-forth battle throughout, with the Chargers making key plays down the stretch to stay in contention. However, Cerritos managed to hit the decisive shot in the final seconds to seal the win.
