Chargers Drop Close One Late to LA Valley

CYPRESS, CA – The Cypress men's basketball team (1-2) came up short in a close contested game against the visiting LA Valley Monarchs (2-3) with a score of 70-65. 

The Chargers found themselves in an early hole going down 7-0 to start the game. Cypress jumped back with a 3 point shot from Lake Ballard. From there, the comeback began and the Chargers pushed for the lead with 6 minutes left in the first half. A back and forth affair occurred and Cypress took the lead into the second half by one point with a score of 32-31. 

Out of the gate in the second half, the Chargers took control and separated with an 18 point lead. Keeping a consistent 10 point lead, Cypress struggled to close out the game. After a 7 minute stretch without a point by the Chargers, the Monarchs erased the deficit  to come within 3 points with 2:22 on the game clock. With 1:26 left, LA Valley flipped the score with a 3 point dagger making the score 61-60. Cypress never reclaimed the lead and dropped their third game of the season 70-65. The Chargers fall to a 1-2 record overall. 

UP NEXT: Men's basketball will continue play at home on Monday, November 14th against San Diego Mesa. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:00 pm.
