Chargers fall to Irvine Valley in defensive battle
CYPRESS, CA- The Chargers (11-8, 2-5 OEC) struggle as they fall to Irvine Valley (13-5, 3-3 OEC) at home on Wednesday night. After a strong defensive effort, the Chargers were unable to get anything going on the offensive end to secure a victory. Final score 47-35.

CYPRESS, CA- The Chargers (11-8, 2-5 OEC) struggle as they fall to Irvine Valley (13-5, 3-3 OEC) at home on Wednesday night. After a strong defensive effort, the Chargers were unable to get anything going on the offensive end to secure a victory.
Both teams came out flat early in the first half, until Irvine Valley jumped out to a 23-8 lead with 6 minutes to play in the first half. Cypress began to get in a groove and went on an 8-3 run with the help of 6 points from Aaron Edison. Irvine Valley went into halftime with a 10-point lead, but Cypress seemed to have the momentum. Sebastian Castro started the second half by knocking down a three-pointer as the comeback continued. The Chargers closed the gap to as little as 6 before the Lasers pulled away and defeated the Chargers 47-35.
There was not much scoring for Cypress, but Sebastian Castro and Kameron Barnes found a way to reach double figures respectively. Jaylan Slaughter had a season high 5 blocks to go along with 2 steals and was an impressive defensive presence all night.
The Chargers fall to #7 in the OEC standings and Irvine Valley stays put at #5
