MONTEREY, CA – The Cypress College men's basketball team (5-2) traveled to Northern California for the Monterey Bay Classic, hosted by Monterey Peninsula College this past weekend. The Chargers finished the tournament 2-1 and were crowned Consolation Champions.
Cypress opened the tournament with a 70-57 loss to tournament host Monterey Peninsula on Thursday, before bouncing back with a 33-point blowout victory over Santa Barbara on Friday. The Chargers capped off the weekend with a dominant 82-48 victory over Hartnell in Saturday's Consolation Championship game.
Sophomore Mike Magee was selected to the All-Tournament Team, averaging 13.4 points per game on 54% shooting over the three-game span.
UP NEXT: Men's basketball will host the 4th Annual Don Johnson Classic on Wednesday, December 5 and Friday, December 7. Cypress opens tournament play on Wednesday against LA Harbor at 6:00 pm.
