Denzel Tchougang to Suit Up for NCAA Division I Siena College Men's Basketball in 2018

LOUDONVILLE, NY – The starting center of last season's ('17-'18) men's basketball team, Denzel Tchougang, is officially suiting up for NCAA Division I Siena College men's basketball this season. Siena College is located in Loudonville, NY and is a member of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC).

Tchougang left his home of Geneva Switzerland, to join the Cypress College men's basketball program. His goal at Cypress was to develop as both a basketball player and a student.  "Denzel improved greatly once he arrived at Cypress, and he will continue to improve," said Cypress College Head Coach Andrew Alhadeff. "He is a high character kid who works hard in the classroom and on the court. His best basketball is ahead of him," he added.

The 6'10", 210lb center averaged just 2.4 points and 2.6 rebounds per game for the Chargers last season. "Denzel had to make the adjustment of playing American basketball and had to deal with a nagging groin injury throughout the year. I'm proud of the way he sacrificed for his team," said Alhadeff. Despite the numbers, Tchougang's size, athleticism, and work ethic caught the attention of scouts. He is hoping to make the most of the opportunity presented to him by Siena's first-year Head Coach Jamion Christian.

Tchougang enters Siena as a sophomore and is majoring in Health Science.
