CYPRESS, CA – The Cypress College men's basketball team (0-2) struggled offensively in their home opening loss against Grossmont (3-1) on Thursday night, 44-61. The Chargers shot just 30% percent from the field, while going 1-of-19 from three-point range for the night.

Freshman Randall Walker and Mike Magee were the only Chargers to finish in double-figures. Walker led Cypress with 14 points and 4 rebounds, while Magee added 10 points and 6 boards.

The Griffins had four players finish with 10 points or more. Ronald Blain led the way for Grossmont, notching a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Kade Kygar had the hot hand coming off the bench, finishing with 11 points in just 12 minutes of game action.

Despite their shooting struggles, Cypress' defense allowed just 18 points in the first half. The Chargers entered the locker room with a 21-18 lead. However, the Griffins got it going in the second half, erupting for 43 points to head home with the victory.

Men's basketball will return to action on Friday, November 17 when they open up the Citrus College Tournament against College of the Desert. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 pm.
