Jeremy Wright Signs With Texas A&M International University

By Wes McCurtis

CYPRESS, CA – Sophomore guard Jeremy Wright has signed on to play at NCAA Division II Texas A&M International University next season. After leading the Chargers in scoring his freshman year, the two-time All-OEC First Team selection took over as the key distributor during his sophomore campaign.

Wright led Cypress to a 22-7 overall record and 2nd place finish in the OEC, while averaging 12 points per game, 1.7 steals per game, and a team leading 3.4 assists per game. His court vision and ability to create for himself off the dribble made him a tremendous asset to Coach Alhadeff's program. Wright seemed to live for big games as a member of the Chargers, including two 20+ point performances against #1 Saddleback and a 27 point game against OEC rival Fullerton College. "Going in as a two-year guy I expect to make an immediate impact on the court and as a leader," said Wright.

The Dustdevils finished 18-11 overall with a 13-7 record in the Heartland Conference last season. "Heading to the next level I need to focus on my body. My strength and endurance will be important when going against bigger and more physical players," said Wright.

Wright will major in journalism and look to pursue a career in sports or screenplay writing.
