Cypress, CA – Sophomore Austin Payne was awarded Charger of the Week (Jan. 4–10) after playing a vital role in the team's victories over Orange Coast and Irvine Valley.
In the OEC opener against the Orange Coast Pirates, Payne poured in 21 points on 9-of-16 shooting. He added 12 rebounds and three steals to help the Chargers capture a one-point victory in overtime. Payne also had a strong performance against Irvine Valley, collecting six rebounds, three blocks, and eight points to help the Chargers to a lopsided 72-47 win over the Lasers.
The El Modena alumnus is currently averaging 11.2 points and 4.9 rebounds per game while shooting 34-percent from 3PT range.
