Lasers Dominate

Irvine, Calif -- Cypress opened up conference play on the road Wednesday night against Irvine Valley College and ended up with a lop-sided loss, 84-51. Coming into the game the Lasers were ranked #13 in the state and had only one loss on the season at 15-1. 

The game was dominated by Irvine Valley from the opening tip-off when they went on a 26-0 scoring run. The Chargers first points in the game didn't come until midway through the first half when Jesse Henderson-Lewis made a lay-up to get Cypress on the board. 

At halftime the score was 44-19 in favor of Irvine Valley. 

Only one Charger scored double digits on the night. Mark Townes scored 20 along with 8 rebounds and 3 assists. Kevin Barnes came off the bench to score 8 points, grab 10 rebounds and 3 assists.

Just a little over a week since his record breaking 50 point performance, David Gonzalez was only able to score 8 points and grab 4 rebounds for the Chargers.

Irvine had four players who scored in double digits. Declan Daly had 13, Dathon Spencer also scored 13, Shaquille Hunter had 12, Chris Porter added 11 for the Lasers.

The Lasers improve to 16-1 overall and 1-0 in conference play. The Chargers fall to 5-11 overall and 0-1 in conference. 

The Chargers face rival Fullerton College (4-12 overall and 0-1 in conference) at home this Friday at 5:30pm in Gym II.
