Baseball

Art Lopez is entering his first season as an assistant baseball coach for the Chargers. Lopez brings over 20 years of coaching experience at the high school and college level. He was the head baseball coach at Narbonne High School from 1995-2002 before making the jump to the community college ranks. He was the pitching coach at Golden West College from 2003-2012 and earned some college head coaching experience at LA Harbor College from 2013-2015.

Lopez played baseball and football for Mary Star of the Sea High School. He then went on to play baseball at Long Beach City College before transferring to play at Azusa Pacific University where he graduated with his bachelor’s degree in 1992. Lopez continued his education at Cal State Dominguez Hills where he received an M.A. in educational administration in 1994.

Art enjoys spending time with his wife, Christine, and their daughter Maya.
