No. 5 Chargers Walk-Off Against Pasadena, 3-2

CYPRESS, CA – The Cypress College baseball team (5-1) extended their win streak to four games on Thursday with a 3-2 victory at home against the Pasadena City College Lancers (3-2). The Chargers' Dawson Gilbert scored the game's winning run from third on a walk-off wild pitch during a Mariano Ricciardi at-bat.

Anthony Diaz got the start on the mound for Cypress, allowing 1 hit with 5 strikeouts in 3 innings of work. However, Cypress reliever Colton Bulger (W, 1-0) earned his first win of the season. Bulger went the final 3 innings, allowing only 2 hits, while notching 4 strikeouts to help secure a victory.

Pasadena's Benny Olguin (L, 0-1) received the loss in 0.1 innings of relief.

The Chargers opened scoring in the third inning with a Trevor Jones (1-for-4, RBI) RBI double to right center field. Cypress added to their lead with another run in the fourth on a Bobby Silvis (0-for-2, RBI) sacrifice bunt.

The Lancers responded with a 2-out rally in the fifth inning to tie the game at 2-2. Pasadena's Marco Martinez (1-for-4, RBI) and Ryan Lewis (1-for-3, RBI) each drove in runs for the Lancers.

Both offenses struggled to get going in the following innings, until the Chargers managed to load the bases in the bottom of the ninth. A wild pitch from Olguin would prove to be costly for the Lancers as Gilbert advanced from third for the game's winning run.

Cypress baseball returns to action in a Friday road game against Mt. San Antonio College at 2:00pm.
