Trevor Fonseca Earns Charger of the Week (Jan. 29-Feb. 4)

Sophomore Cypress College baseball standout Trevor Fonseca was awarded his first Charger of the Week this season. Former Cypress College baseball player and 2018 National Baseball Hall of Fame electee, Trevor Hoffman, presented Fonseca with the award while visiting the campus during Thursday's practice.

Fonseca helped lead the Chargers to a 2-1 record during the week of Jan. 29-Feb. 4, where he hit for an .800 AVG with 3RBI, 6 walks, and 8 runs scored. The West Vancouver Secondary (CAN) alumnus began the week going 1-for-2 in a 9-5 loss to Palomar College in the opening game of the Annual David Buttles Tournament, hosted by College of the Desert. He then went 2-for-3 with 4 walks and 4 runs scored in a dominant 20-1 victory over College of the Desert. Fonseca capped off the week hitting a perfect 5-for-5 with 3RBI, 2 walks, and 4 runs scored in a 26-5 win over San Bernardino Valley College.

The sophomore outfielder has helped guide the No. 3 ranked Chargers to a 4-3 overall record, while leading the team with a .550 AVG and .679 OBP this season.
