No. 10 Warriors Battle Back to Defeat No. 4 Chargers, 6-3

CYPRESS, CA – The Cypress College baseball team (12-3) saw its 5 game win streak come to an end at the hands of El Camino College (13-2) at home on Tuesday, 6-3.

Andrew Quezada had another quality start for the Chargers, allowing just 5 hits and 1 unearned run while collecting 9 strikeouts in 7 innings.  Evan Flohr (0-1) received his first loss of the season in relief. Flohr allowed 3 walks and 3 earned runs in 0.1 innings.

Ricky Ramos gave up 2 runs on 5 htis in 6 innings of work as the Warriors starter. Kenneth Haus (2-0) recieved his second win of the season in relief. Jake Carr earned the save.

The Chargers opened the scoring in the fourth inning with an RBI single from Brandon Alamo (1-for-3, 2RBI). El Camino tied the game 1-1 in the top of the sixth when Trevor Casanova scored on an error by the second baseman.  Cypress answered with 2 runs on back-to-back sacrifice flies from Willie Aguilar () and Alamo to take a 3-1 in the bottom of the sixth. An RBI single from Brandon Dorn in the eighth tacked on another run for the Warriors to make it a 3-2 game.

Cypress got into trouble in the ninth when Flohr walked 3 consecutive batters to load the bases with no outs. Henry Martinez replaced Flohr on the mound to try and get the Chargers out of the jam.  Ty Conrad slapped an RBI groundout to tie the game 3-3. Pinch hitter Connor Underwood hit a 3-run homer over the left field wall to give El Camino a 6-3 lead they would not relinquish.

Cypress baseball will return to action at home against San Diego City College on Thursday, March 2 at 2:00 p.m.
