HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA – The Cypress College beach volleyball team (9-6, 4-1 OEC) picked up two big Orange Empire Conference wins in Friday morning's doubleheader at Golden West College.
The No. 6 Lady Chargers took care of business against the host, Golden West Rustlers, 4-1. They followed that up with a 3-2 victory over the Orange Coast College Pirates, moving Cypress into sole possession of second place in the current OEC standings.
Cypress' No. 1 (Khamis Berneker/Brittany Zavala), No. 3 (Jane Woodward/Danielle Gomez), and No. 4 (Marina Pilkington/Ashley Corona) pairs each were a perfect 2-0 on the day.
The Chargers will return to action in another OEC doubleheader, this time on their home courts at Belmont Shore, on Friday, April 5. Cypress will take on Santa Ana College at 9:00am, followed by a rematch with Orange Coast College at 10:00am.
