No. 6 Chargers Defeat Tigers in OEC Match-Up, 3-2

RIVERSIDE, CA – The women's beach volleyball team (7-6, 2-1 OEC) moved to 2-1 in conference play on Friday, defeating Riverside City College in a close match, 3-2. The Chargers earned wins from their No. 2s (Alisha Ormond/jane Woodward), No. 3s (Kayla Owens/Danielle Gomez) and No. 4s (Marina Pilkington/Ashley Corona).

Freshman Alisha Ormond and sophomore Jane Woodward defeated the Tigers in two sets. The first set was close, but Ormond and Woodard rallied and won 24-22. Ormond and Woodard took the second set by storm and beat the Tigers by 11 points, 21-10.  

Sophomore Kayla Owens and freshman Danielle Gomez also defeated the Tigers in two sets. In the first set, Owens and Gomez put six points between them and Tigers to win, 21-15. Owens and Gomez beating the Tigers in the second set, 21-16.

Sophomore Marina Pilkington and freshman Ashley Corona beat the Tigers in two sets. Pilkington and Corona took the first set, 21-15, and the second set, 21-16.

The Chargers return to the sand for two games on Friday, March 22 at Golden West College to take on the Rustlers of Golden West at 10:00am and the Pirates of Orange Coast College at 12:00pm.
