The Cypress College beach volleyball program will make its debut on Friday, March 4 against El Camino and Long Beach City College at 9:00 am.
Beach volleyball has been an Olympic Sport since 1996 and there have been professional opportunities for women in beach volleyball in the United States for more than 20 years.
This season the Chargers will join 24 other CCCAA schools who compete in women's beach volleyball. The long time women's volleyball coach, Nancy Welliver, will lead the program. Welliver has 20 years of head coaching experience, including two Orange Empire Confernce Championships (2009, 2010) and back-to-back Conference Coach of the Year Award's at Cypress.
The 2015-16 women's volleyball Co-Conference MVP Madison May, First Team selection Rockelle Gholson, and Second Team seletions Jazmyn Covington and Dominique Parker will anchor the first ever beach volleyball roster for the Chargers.
