In an Orange Empire Conference battle, Fullerton fought off a tenacious Cypress College team on Tuesday 13-9.
It was a very close game from the start with both teams matching one another goal for goal. The Hornets were not able to shake the Chargers until the fourth quarter.
Tied 8-8, in the first minute of the fourth, the combination of Bianca Vera to Annelise Hernandez did the trick as Fullerton went on a 5-1 run taking the victory away from Cypress.
FC's leading scorer was Hernandez with 5. Vera had 3 goals and 6 assists. Veronica Ramirez also helped out with 3 goals and 3 assists. Cynthia Lujan and Ashley Garcia both scored a goal each.
Up Next: The Hornets (5-1 overall, 2-0 OEC) will play in the Mt. San Antonio Tournament this Friday and Saturday (September 22-23). Friday's game will be played at Mt. SAC against Long Beach (8 am) and Mt San Antonio (11:30 am). Saturday's games will be played at Fullerton College against Santa Barbara (8 am) and Rio Hondo (12:40 pm).
