SOFTBALL: SEASON ENDS PLAYOFFS BEGIN

This past Wednesday, Fullerton's 11-game win streak was snapped by conference-rival Cypress College 5-1 on the Hornets sophomore day.

Fullerton tried to close the regular season with a bang as they hosted the #2 in state Chargers, but they were too much for the Hornets to overtake.

Cypress struck first in the top of the first inning scoring one run. Kellee Ross hit a sinlge to center field scoring Gabrielle Munoz.

In the same inning FC's Sabrina Anguiano stole home to even out the score 1-1. Fullerton's defense kept Cypress on lock down until the top of the fifth inning. That's when the Hornets had a minor hiccup and allowed 3 runs.

The Hornet bats were not able to connect as they left three players stranded.

The loss to the conference leader places Fullerton in a fourh place tie in conference with the Riverside Tigers both having 12 wins and 9 losses. Fullerton now wait for the playoff seedings to be revealed in order to find out their next opponent.

Starting pitcher Natasha Trujillo ended the game with 4.1 innings, 2 strikeouts, and only 3 runs against. Reliever Shelby Boehmer closed the game with 2.2 innings, and 2 runs against.

Fullerton College President Dr. Greg Schulz even threw out the first pitch for the game. Although FC lost the game, it was still a great day to be a Hornet.
