Sophomore Rolland Pearsall (Lawndale HS) and freshman Ahmad Malone (Chicago, IL) both scored 19 points each in an 85-73 Long Beach City College loss to visiting Cypress College on Wednesday at the LBCC Hall of Champions Gym. The setback closed out the Vikings non-conference schedule and dropped Long Beach's record to 7-7 overall.

LBCC opens South Coast Conference interdivision play on January 6 when the Vikings host Pasadena City College.

On Wednesday, Long Beach erased an early 9-2 deficit to the Chargers and went out in front 18-16 after a three-point play by Malone at the 12:48 mark. But Cypress went on to outscore LBCC 21-5 over the next 10 minutes to take the lead for good. Cypress was up 41-27 at halftime and was never threatened.

Freshman Jeremiah Blandin (Poly HS) posted a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. For Blandin, it was his second straight double-double and fourth of the season. Sophomore Mena Saad (West Torrance HS) added 12 points and seven rebounds.
