CCCAA Board Approves Proposal To Go Forward With Sports In 2020-2021

The CCCAA Board of Directors added hope for all California Community College sports teams, including those participating in the Orange Empire Conference, by unanimously approving a plan to allow the return of athletics competition in the 2020-2021 sports season. Continued safety measures due to the Covid-19 health crisis will also dictate the timelines with clearance through state health/safety decisions.

Covid-19 Working Group Plan Here

The plan includes 3 options for our return to athletics. A final decision on which option will be made on July 17th based on what stage of re-opening California is in at that time.

Conventional Option - Stage 4

Contact/Non-Contact - Stage 3

Contingency - Stage 2

Key Proposals Include
  • Each sport will only play 70-75% of allowable games/dates depending upon which option.
  • Modified postseason, including a 1-week Regional Playoff.
  • Some Fall sports would potentially move to Spring.
